We have recieved very interesting complaint about the service lately.
Our client's website has about 400 visits per day. We have weekly scanning for changes, and this provide spike up to 4,000 visits every Monday.
Message from site admin: "I blocked digital ocean yesterday. I was getting a 100% bounce rate from the same location and it was skewing my analytics. I wonder if there is a way to test the site with your method without skewing my data?"
The solution for this problem was to set up headers for our bot so admins would be able to filter scanning.
Currently our bots have User-Agent header set up to
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; BacktracIoBot; +http://backtrac.io)
So now if you see bot doing any significant changes to your analytics it is fairly easy to adjust your analytics to avoid this data.
